③ Prompt Systems & Agents

The advanced course turns everything so far into durable infrastructure: what belongs in the persistent layer, how to design a specialist agent that behaves like a colleague, how your profile composes with it, with a declared order for conflicts, and how to make the whole system honest, robust, and portable across models. 5 sections · quizzes with fresh questions every attempt · 1 capstone.

2.5-3 hours · Audience: Practitioners building durable prompt setups, personal profiles, specialist agents, and workflows a team can rely on.

What you'll be able to do

  • Decide what belongs in the persistent layer and keep it short and load-bearing.
  • Design a specialist agent: role, workflow, required inputs, output contract, guardrails.
  • Compose profile + specialist with explicit precedence, and predict which instruction wins a conflict.
  • Build in robustness: ambiguity rules, anti-fabrication lines, verification passes, injection defense, graceful failure.
  • Version, test and port the prompts you rely on, with a fixed test set and clear re-test triggers.

Grading: Section quizzes 60% · final test 40% · capstone graded by rubric (self-assessed)
Prerequisites: Courses 1-2 or equivalent comfort with clear asks, examples, format control and reasoning steers.

Sections

1 The Persistent LayerInstructions that ride along with every message: what belongs there, how platforms expose it, and why every persistent line changes the economics of every later prompt. 2 Designing a SpecialistRole, workflow, required inputs, output contract, guardrails, the five parts that turn 'you are a lawyer' into a colleague you can rely on. 3 Composing Profile + SpecialistYour profile says who you are; the agent says what the job is. Composition runs both at once, with an explicit order for who wins when they disagree. 4 Robustness and HonestyThe instructions that hold when things go wrong: ambiguity rules, anti-fabrication lines, verification passes, injection awareness, and failing out loud. 5 Portability and TestingPrompts you rely on deserve engineering: what changes across models, how to write for any of them, and the small test set that catches drift before it costs you. Final test + capstone 10 questions across the whole course, then the applied capstone brief.
